Is strength a physical concept?

The concept of strength has shifted over time. Earlier, man measured his strength by the muscle power he had. Hercules was called the strongest man on earth at one time, till he met a puny, slim little boy called Jason. And Jason challenged him to throwing a rock into the sea. Hercules, with all his might, flung the rock far into the sea. Jason took a rock and he bounced it off the surface of the water, skimming it, and his rock went much further than Hercules’ rock. From then on, brain was considered to be more powerful than brawn.

However, we don’t realize what is more powerful than the brain: the spirit. It has more strength than the brain or the brawn or emotions or anything else. If you have strength of spirit, you are indomitable; nobody or nothing can break you. Because when you have the strength of spirit, you know no fear. And when you know no fear, you cannot be coerced into doing anything you don’t want to do; you can’t be broken. You don’t fear death; you don’t fear the lack of your health or your wealth or your reputation. That, indeed, is true strength.

If you are locked into a room and told that you are going to be left there and no one is going to come back to rescue you, your immediate reaction will be to look for a way out. You will try to escape. But if you are strong of spirit, you won’t look for a way out. You ARE the way out. You don’t need a door to let yourself out. Your body can be imprisoned, but not your spirit; such is its power.

Therefore, strength is anything but physicality.
