Isn’t the Self necessary to function?

Out of the 4 selves—the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual—the first three are merely instruments to function. For example, there are people sitting in a room, and I am talking to them. What would happen if I weren’t there physically but only my voice could be heard from nowhere? People might run out saying the room is haunted. Because there is a need to be able to focus on what we call an individual or a human being, which is the physical, mental and emotional self talking, formulating words and speaking. Thus, I use my body merely as an instrument. The spirit self should speak through the body; it should create the voice and formulate the words and thoughts that will be spoken.

When we become aware that the physical, mental and emotional selves are merely instruments, we can then strike a balance between them and the spiritual self. For example, when we eat a delicious meal, we don’t look at the spoon and tell it that it was a great meal. Instead, we say it to the person who cooked the meal. That is the spirit, while the physical, mental and emotional selves are merely the spoon.

The way to realizing that is by knowing that we ARE the universe. We are simply inhabiting a form. This means we are vibrating a vibration of the universe which is what is called our physical body. But that does not mean that the universe and us are separate from each other. By believing that we are separate from the universe, we are alienating ourselves. But in reality, we are very much a part of the energy that flows through us. That energy and us are also not separate from each other. And the very same energy flows through the universe as well.

Once we realize that, we will cease to exist in the physical, mental and emotional selves, and only function through our spiritual self.
